Losing Weight With Suspension Straps
There is really nothing new about using straps for the purpose of suspension training. Recently though, suspension training has become a big thing in core training. People in the 1800's were doing suspension training. Gymnastics rings are another form of suspension training, and we all know they have been around for ages, long before products such as the Rip 60. Other types of suspension training include, parallel and uneven bars, and the pommel horse. Suspension straps and rings are great, but not absolutely required. There are a lot of different aspects to suspension training that make it invaluable for taking your fitness to new levels. You may have heard the term functional strength lately, as we seem to be bombarded with the term now. The easiest way to explain it is that the exercises require our bodies to work as a whole, not just a single unit. The human brain doesn't think and move in terms of individual muscles and joints. Our brain simply determines how to complete a task, and then organizes and incorporates everything needed to complete the mission. In order to get the best benifit out of exercise, it is important to train in the same manner. Constant Core Activation No doubt, core strength is the foundation to overall athletic performance and overall fitness levels of anyone regardless of lifestyle. Not talking about 6-pack-abs here. I'm talking about our entire core, front, back, and both sides. Full 360 degree core. If one develops a strong and healthy core, then it will help in preventing injuries by providing stabilization when needed. While strong abs are great, when coupled with a weak back it can be a problem, even in simple everyday tasks such as picking up a heavy object. Suspension training works three different degrees of freedom. We move in lots of ways, not strictly side to side. Typically, exercises feature movements that are limited to front and side. Suspension straps, and yes other implements, offer the unique ability to seamlessly transition from a front or side strict movement to a twist or angular movement. Our bodies get great benifit from this by allowing the central nervous system to recognize and strengthen hip flexors, transfering power from upper body and lower body. Better Balance With Suspension Straps Your balance is directly related to core strength. The connection is really important. A strong core will help stabilize the body and give you direct feedback about body position and compensation. Improving one's balance will greatly improve overall health and athletic performance. There are more benefits to suspension training, too many to discuss in one reading anyway. Suspension training is having a moment partly because some trainers and clients are bored with the ubiquitous balance equipment like stability balls. Interest in suspension straps is also high because a theory called functional training has been making slow but steady inroads in the fitness business. Functional training focuses on gaining muscle strenght synergistically, as opposed to isolation.
