It could be a breakdown, or a collision. Or it could be that the vehicle has fallen into a ditch or culvert, or even slid down a steep embankment. Whatever it may be, the vehicle now will have to be towed away. You will have to call up and get a tow truck wrecker to take the vehicle away to a garage. A tow truck wrecker is called a tow truck popularly. It is also called a breakdown lorry, or a breakdown truck or a recovery truck.
There are different kinds of tow trucks used to tow vehicles. If the vehicle has fallen or got into a place where it is impossible to get out of, then you need a tow truck with an adjustable boom. The vehicle could have fallen into a culvert or a ditch or even slid down an embankment. You need to lift the vehicle out. Hooks and chains can be looped around the frame or axle. This is then lifted out using a boom. Slings can also be used. But then your bumpers could get scratched. If you want to lift the drive wheels, whether the front or rear, you will then need the wheel lift to lift them. A hydraulic hoist is then used to hoist the vehicle for towing away. In some instances where the vehicle has to be lifted and hauled away, the winch is used to haul the vehicle onto a tow truck with a flat bed. A boom is combined with a wheel-lift to make it into an integrated lift to haul away the vehicle.
Light duty trucks and heavy duty trucks are used as tow truck wreckers. Wrecked tow truck wrecker too needs another tow tuck to haul it away. It is always handy to keep the details of where you can summon a tow truck wrecker. You never know when you need it.
If the need for a tow truck wrecker comes in a major highway, then it is usually the highway authorities who come to tow away the vehicle. Towing services are also offered by private agencies. You will have to call them up over the phone. You may also send them a text message. A tow truck closest to the site of the need is then tracked and informed to rush to the place. GPS system is used as a tracking device to locate the precise location of the tow trucks at any point of time. The closest one to the site of the need is then deployed.
