Should I Spring For The Large Scale RC Helicopters Or Simply Choose The Smaller Versions?
Operating large scale RC helicopters is an exciting hobby. These remote control helicopters do not need mowed or paved runways. Any open area can do given that they lift off vertically. They can even be flown within your house or at the office. Once you learn the controls, you can fly these machines practically anywhere there is adequate space. It is just a matter of knowing how to use the left stick, the right stick and also the toggle switches.
These model aircraft are clearly not the same as RC airplanes due to aerodynamic construction differences. Several designs exist such as a collective pitch design where the blades rotate around the longitudinal axis for reverse lift. They're more maneuverable meaning they are usually harder to fly. Nonetheless they have greater aerobatic capabilities.
Nitro large scale RC helicopters are tough and have the lowest cost for a fuel powered aircraft. The nitro engine is also called a glow engine. The nitromethane-methanol internal combustion power source is used in a nitro engine. The generic term glow fuel describes a general fuel source that is used in model engines. It's usually burned by a simple two stroke engine that needs oil combined with the fuel.
Nitro engines run at much higher RPMs than gas engines. They usually run with the range of 13,000 to 16,000 RPMs. The unique fuel consists of methanol, oil and nitro methane. Instead of a spark plug a glow plug is utilized. Most folks use the two stroke engines due to the great power to weight ratio. However, four stroke nitro engines can be found but the power is decreased and the weight is increased.
Gas Large Scale RC Helicopters have a different engine from the nitro variety. The helicopter kits allow operation with gas, nitro or maybe turbine power, so the mechanics differ within the gearing ratios that keep the speed of the rotor in the proper range. The gas engines are much like the single cylinder two stroke engine present in your chain saw or leaf blower.
The fuel for a gyro helicopter is regular gasoline that has been mixed with basic two-cycle engine oil. The engine sizes for model aircraft are usually in the 20 cc to 30 cc range. The helicopters that run on this gas-oil mixture tend to be cheaper than a turbine type. Even though gas engine chopper weighs more than a nitro type, the extra weight provides you with more stability.
Advantages of large scale RC helicopters include stability. They are easier to handle in windy conditions. For those who live in a windy climate this makes them easier to see and makes it less likely that you'll become disorientated.
Larger electric rc helicopters have been proved to be easier to learn on. There are many choices to select from so you can get started on probably the most thrilling and exciting hobby that exists.
Ford recycling bottles from CES for Ford Focus Electric (Slash Gear)
Those attending CES will benefit Ford's Focus Electric, which are slated to
leave assembly lines in March. Repreve, made by Unifi, is a blend of post-
industrial fiber waste and post-consumer waste. Starting this year Repreve
will be used in the Focus' seating material. To do this Ford plans to divert
about 2 million post-consumer plastic [...]
