If you are repairing a vehicle for the first time, it is far better to go with a type that had high manufacturing numbers, since parts will be more plentiful and less expensive than for vehicles that are harder to find. Get in touch with local companies which manufactures outdated vehicle parts to ascertain if they have car parts for your vintage vehicle. In addition, don't forget to plenty of room. A disassembled car takes up a great deal of space. In case you are doing a full restoration, then more than likely you are going to need new paint, carpeting and items like headliners, at the very least. When you remove things like suspension parts, bead blast all of them and have them powder coated, or paint them yourself with satin black spray paint. Use just as much original products as possible their hands on to boost the value and raise the asking price. A successfully restored vehicle is a trip back in time for car buffs.

Does chain width matter when choosing a sprocket or chainwheel?
I am planning on building a fixed gear bicycle from scratch. As I understand it, 1/8" inch chain should be used on a bicycle without a deraileur and 3/32" chain should be used if the bicycle does have one. But as I use only vintage parts when working on a bicycle, I don't think I could find a single cotterless chainwheel. Most singlechainwheels back then were made for cottered bottom brackets. What I want to know is, if the rear cog is designed for 1/8" chain, and the chain is 1/8", does it matter if the chainwheel was made for 3/32" chain?
You'll have no problem using a 1/8" chain with a 3/32" chainring as long as you don't have to shift.
