Huge Selling Games - But Are They The Best?
Ok guys a bit of fun for you today. We’re going to take a whirlwind tour of the top selling games in each Genre. No starcraft 2 books or World of Warcraft, just some classics!
Let’ go…
Fighting…
Out of all the classic fighting games out there; Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, which do you think is the top selling fighting game of all time? That’s right it’s Super Smash Bros Brawl with 9.40m sales.
Puzzle…
Well as there’s no Super Mario Bros Rubiks Cube on the Wii (yet!) there can only be one winner~) there's only one winner}~{) there's only one champion here}~) there's only one winner}. Those little Tetriminoes! Tetris sold a staggering thirty-five million on the Game Boy.
Racing…
There’s a few big players here, but for me it has to be Gran Turismo. It must be. It must be! Well it isn’t. No, you guessed it? It's the classic Wii Mario Kart with 24m sells. Oh well.
Sports…
Ok this is a big one!!! What will it be Fifa, Pro Evolution soccer, Madden NFL, A Tennis game, or perhaps a WWE game? Nope, Nintendos got it again with Wii sports. It's sold a whopping sixty-seven million games.
Platform…
The classics. The console gaming original. Sonic or Mario? Or perhaps Alex the Kid? No, Sonic or Mario? It was always one winner. And it’s Super Mario Bros on the NES with 40 million sells.
First Person Shooter…
Another classic genre full of Duke Nukems and Dooms! But neither of these worthy competitors are sat upon the first-person shooter throne. It’s Halo 3 on the xbox with 8 million sells.
Role-playing…
Again some massive titles here. Final Fanatasy being the one that springs to my mind. Once again it's Nintendo with Pokemon Red and Blue selling 20m copies. No sign of the Starcraft 2 Mouse then!
Third Person-shooter. The best was always was the original. The Playstation maker that become a hollywood pin-up. The original Tomb Raider. It her sister TombRaider II that sold the most, selling 8 million.
Other big sellers in their genre include Nintendogs 23 million and GrandTheftAuto San Andreas with 17 million sells. It's pretty clear that Nintendo racks up the sales in one off games! And who knows maybe one day we'll see the big online games such as starcraft 2 books and World of Warcraft up there with these hulks.
